Home Alarms

The need to have increased levels of home security today can help protect you and your loved ones in more situations than ever before. The good news is that there are also many new types of home alarms to meet your needs, giving you a lot of flexibility in the type of alarm and the cost. Home alarms are now even easy to install in some cases. Here are some more things you need to know about getting your home alarm system.

When it comes to home alarms, you need to know that there is much more out there than simple fire and burglar alarms - although these are necessary. You also have carbon monoxide detectors, radon alarms, driveway alarms, pool alarms, perimeter alarms, central alarm systems, and more. The types of alarms available range from battery operated motion detectors, to laser detection systems, to visual alarms that use cameras, and to systems that automatically call the police and fire department when an alarm is sounded.

Many different brands of home alarms are available, and each model comes with its own special features. Some models, such as that put out by Norco Alarms, even uses biometrics and your fingerprint is all you need to open a safe, or turn on or off an alarm system. Most systems, like the Guardian Alarms allow you to get a system that either activates an alarm or calls the police or fire department automatically. Other systems, such as ADT, Monitronics, GE Security, or Brinks, will allow you to simply pay for a monthly service that monitors your home and calls the police or fire department for you when an alarm is sounded. Generally, the equipment is free when you sign up for the service.

In many cases, having a home alarm system can result in a discount on your home insurance. You will need to check with your home insurance company first, though, to find out what brands may be approved for the discount. Not all brands will meet the qualifications. In other cases, having more than one type of home alarm system may provide you with even greater insurance savings.
